ESOTERIC CHRISTIANITY AND THE INNER LIFE OF THE EARTH:
A PATH FOR EARTH AND HUMANITY

Something is happening in the world—everywhere, in all domains, there is an accelerated sense of change and transformation. It seems a world is ending as another is being born, and we are in between, in an intermediate state, which we can experience either as chaos and confusion or as a call to change our lives, to act and know differently.
How can we respond appropriately—selflessly and unconditionally—and help a new world to be born? This is the theme of our seminar. We bring together five spiritual researchers, each bringing a different perspective and unique vision of the transformations occurring in all areas of life, cosmic, planetary, and human. Everyone can agree that the situation is urgent, and that, as humans, we are called on to respond.
We can all agree, too, that it is not just our visible, earthly world that is suffering upheaval. The inner Earth, the elemental worlds, the worlds of the nature spirits, the worlds of the ancestors, and the angelic worlds also suffer the current upheavals in their own way, only awaiting humanity’s awakening to our true mission so that we can all be healed.
Implicit in this call—underlying our evolutionary moment—is the need to respond anew to the meaning of the deed of Christ, who became flesh, united with the Earth and the substance of the Earth, descended into her, and rose again to become the guide, teacher, and inner ferment, not just of humanity but also of the Earth herself as well as the cosmic spiritual worlds within and around her.
Come join us for what promises to be an exceptional and transformative experience.

The Inner Life of the Earth
Exploring the Mysteries of Nature, Subnature, and Supranature
Edited by Paul V. O’Leary
Contributors: Christopher Bamford, Dennis Klocek, David Mitchell,
Paul V. O’Leary, Marko Pogacnik, Robert Powell, Rachel C. Ross
Throughout human history, ancient wisdom and traditional myths have placed human beings between the heavens and the underworld, describing the heavens as the light-filled realm of the gods and the source of goodness, and characterizing the underworld as a demon-filled realm of darkness and the source of evil. Modern science, however, denies the heavens and knows little of the Earth’s interior — even physically — beyond the first few miles, after which it simply resorts to conjecture based on the extrapolation of existing sensory data. In other words, natural science fails to take into account that the Earth is a living, spiritual being and ignores the presence of its soul-spiritual qualities and influences.
The topic for this seminar—
“The Inner Life of the Earth”—is discussed from various perspectives in the book of the same title. The authors (four of whom will speak at our seminar) discuss how the forces emanating from the interior of the Earth affect the weather, our atmosphere, human beings, and how human behavior in turn affects them, showing that earthly and human evolution are a unity and should never be thought of as occurring separately. They also discuss the deep significance of Christ’s incarnation, by which he united with the Earth to become the Spirit of the Earth.
Those who plan on attending the spiritual research seminar this year will find this book especially useful for opening up this topic for inner research.
In his introduction to
The Inner Life of the Earth Paul O’Leary suggests:
“For those readers who wish to penetrate more deeply into the anthroposophic worldview concerning the interior of the Earth, two recent publications are useful. Sigismund von Gleich’s Transformation of Evil: And the Subterranean Spheres of the Earth provides an excellent summary of the spiritual-scientific picture of the interior of the Earth, the corresponding energies of evil and their counter-pole in the nine Beatitudes of the Sermon on the Mount. The other, The Interior of the Earth: An Esoteric Study of the Subterranean Spheres, offers Rudolf Steiner’s only five lectures that address the topic directly. In addition, it contains relevant excerpts from five other lectures by Steiner, as well as material from Adolf Arenson and Countess von Keyserlingk. The present collection may be considered the third in that series.”
SPEAKERS AND PRESENTATIONS
CHRISTOPHER BAMFORD:
“Unconditional Hospitality: Selflessness as the Path to Christ in All Things”

Christopher Bamford writes:
“The Mystery of Golgotha (“the turning point of time”) is not only a unique evolutionary moment, but also a now-and-forever ongoing process of transformation in which the Earth and humanity, the spiritual worlds and the divine, having separated, are potentially made one again. But as always what happens is up to us! Faced with the evolutionary demands of our time, when the Earth, humanity, the spiritual worlds, and even the Divine itself seems at risk, I believe there is no better response than that laid down by the selfless, healing, and redemptive coworking of Mary-Sophia and Christ, as described in the Gospels and by Anthroposophy. Their actions show us a path whereby, if we dare to follow in their footsteps, we can continue their work and bring new life to a dying Earth and a humanity falling ever deeper into egotism.”
Christopher Bamford is Editor in Chief for SteinerBooks and its imprints. A Fellow of the Lindisfarne Association, he has lectured, taught, and written widely on Western spiritual and esoteric traditions. He is the author of
The Voice of the Eagle: The Heart of Celtic Christianity and
An Endless Trace: The Passionate Pursuit of Wisdom in the West. He has also translated and edited numerous books, including
Celtic Christianity, Homage to Pythagoras, and
The Noble Traveller (all published by
Lindisfarne Books). HarperSanFrancisco included an essay by Mr. Bamford in its anthology
Best Spiritual Writing 2000.
ORLAND BISHOP:
The Seventh Shrine: A New Covenant for the Earth

Orland Bishop writes:
“The Seventh Shrine, the Shrine of the Future, is the Shrine of Imani, which is the Swahili word for faith or the ability to decide for a particular future out of one’s own experience of freedom. Faith is the inner preparation to decide for the best when we are at our best, as givers of the seed thought for what arises as new and free in our world. It is the consequence of the inner certainty of the primal intuitions of truth, goodness and beauty when it moves beyond the idea into the human will. We act from this space when we know that what we give supports something greater than ourselves. The Seventh Shrine has no teaching. Each person must create it. Those who do so create a portal of initiation, a covenant between the earth and the spiritual world. As initiation, it brings the human being constantly toward the threshold of asking—how must I be in order for you to be free, how do I host the freedom of the other, the development of the other and the greater truth of the other?”
Orland Bishop is a lecturer, healer, and spiritual teacher. The founder of the Shade Tree Foundation, which works with at risk youth in Los Angeles, he is the author of the forthcoming book,
The Seventh Shrine: Meditations on the African Spiritual Journey from the Middle Passage to the Dream of Martin Luther King.
MARKO POGACNIK:
The Green Aspect of Christ

Marko Pogacnik writes:
“At this time, under many aspects, the Christ is appearing to the beings of the Earth. One aspect takes the form of the Earth Changes that seem so threatening to the rational mind. Perhaps it is time to change our perspective and open our perception to what is truly going on within the process of planetary transmutation. Suppose, for instance, that the process of transmutation started more than two thousand years ago with the missions of Buddha and Christ. At what stage in the process are we now? Could we translate the dark image of the present Earth Changes into the language of divine revelation? What logic lies behind the broad spectrum of the present planetary transformations? What is the new role of the elemental world—and more particularly of the fairy world—that is emerging from the Earth’s core? What path should each of us take personally to come closer to the source of change and renewal?”
Marko Pogacnik leads experiential seminars on landscape issues for businesses and communities and is an internationally known conceptual land artist, who has extended his art into what he calls “Earth acupuncture” or “lithopuncture,” with the goal of healing disturbed landscapes and reawakening the Earth’s power points. He is president of the Hagia Chora School of Geomancy and a faculty member of the Omega Institute. In 1997, he helped establish LIFEnet, a worldwide network for geomancy and transformation. He is the author of numerous books, including
Sacred Geography: Geomancy: Co-creating the Earth Cosmos (2008) and
Turned Upside Down: A Workbook on Earth Changes and Personal Transformation (2004). Visit his website at

ROBERT POWELL:
The Etheric Christ, The Interior of the Earth, the Awakening of the Divine Feminine, and the Significance of the Year 2012

Robert Powell writes:
“Awareness of the reality of Earth changes is growing and questions are awakening in human hearts. What lies behind this transformation? What is our role in relationship to it? What is our responsibility to the Earth, and particularly to its interior? We cannot answer such questions without first understanding certain supra-sensible events. To begin with there is the event of Christ’s return in the Etheric, whose central meaning is Earth transformation, along with the simultaneous opening of a new relationship between humanity and the interior of the Earth, the mysterious realm of Shambhala, the lost paradise. But this is not all. Accompanying and contextualizing these realities is the reality of the awakening of the Divine Feminine and it is against this background that the true significance of the year 2012 can begin to emerge.”
Robert Powell, PhD, is an internationally known lecturer, author, eurythmist, and movement therapist. He is founder of the Choreocosmos School of Cosmic and Sacred Dance, and cofounder of the Sophia Foundation of North America. His published works include
The Mystery, Biography, and Destiny of Mary Magdalene: Sister of Lazarus John & Spiritual Sister of Jesus (2008);
The Sophia Teachings: The Emergence of the Divine Feminine in Our Time (2007);
The Most Holy Trinosophia: The New Revelation of the Divine Feminine (2000); and
Chronicle of the Living Christ: The Life and Ministry of Jesus Christ (1996). Robert offers workshops in Europe and North America and, with Karen Rivers, cofounder of the Sophia Foundation, and leads pilgrimages to the world’s sacred sites. Visit

RACHEL C. ROSS:
Eurythmy and the Subearthly Forces

Rudolf Steiner created the new art of Eurythmy in 1912. It embodies all of the deepest mysteries of the whole of Anthroposophy. As Steiner indicated, "Eurythmy is capable of perfection without limits. For it uses as its instrument the human body itself. In the human body all the secrets of the universe are expressed. The human body is a true microcosm, and when speaking through it, the human soul, manifesting its own inner life, can make visible in artistic form all secrets of the universe." During this seminar, we will experience subearthly and supraearthly forces through eurythmy, and ourselves as the bridge between the two.
Rachel C. Ross is an educator and eurythmist of wide experience. She holds a diploma in Artistic and Pedagogical Eurythmy from the London School of Eurythmy; a diploma in Therapeutic Eurythmy from the Medical Section of the Goetheanum in Dornach, Switzerland; and a Masters of Science in Education from Sunbridge College in New York. Rachel specializes in treating children with developmental disorders and learning disabilities. She has been involved as a developmental specialist, designing and implementing programs, training staff, teaching, and consulting at Waldorf and public schools. Rachel is a faculty member and co-director of the Waldorf Resource/Remedial Teacher Training Programs in Spain, Brazil, Ireland and Toronto. These training initiatives are in partnership with the Association for Healing Education. She maintains an active practice in therapeutic eurythmy and remedial movement therapy and is a traveling consultant to many Waldorf and private schools nationwide. She is the author of
Adventures in Parenting (AWSNA, 2008).
